
Good winter car care comes down to three things: protect the car before the salt arrives, wash it more often rather than less, and never take anything hard or dry to frozen glass. The cold itself does almost nothing to your car. What does the damage is the salt and grit spread over every road from November onwards, and the fact that most people respond to bad weather by leaving the car dirty until spring. That is precisely backwards, and this is the post I write every autumn to explain why.
