How long do you want it to last?

Everything here trades durability against application time. Decide which of the two you care about, then pick.

BASIC QUICK WAX DETAILER

First bottle · spray and wipe

The entry point to the range: mist it onto a clean panel, wipe it off, and the paint is glossier and slicker than it was. Protection is measured in weeks and the whole car takes minutes.

  • Easiest job in detailing
  • Gloss and slickness after a wash
  • 500ml, ready to use

HYDROPHOBIC QUICK DETAILER

Studio staple · beading

HYDROPHOBIC QUICK DETAILER+ is the bottle we reach for after almost every wash, in 250ml, 500ml and 5L. It adds genuine water behaviour rather than just shine, so rain sheets off instead of sitting on the paint.

  • Sharp beading after each wash
  • 250ml, 500ml and 5L sizes
  • LADY version, softer scent

CERAMIC WAX COAT GEL UV

An SiO₂ gel that sits between a spray wax and a full coating: applied with more care, and rewarded with far more durability. Expect a deep, wet finish and months of water behaviour rather than weeks.

Wax, spray wax and quick detailers

What each one is actually for, and how to get the most out of the time you spend.

Which car wax is best?

The best car wax is the one that matches your routine, not the one with the biggest claim on the label. If you wash weekly and want the job finished in ten minutes, a spray such as HYDROPHOBIC QUICK DETAILER+ keeps gloss and beading topped up indefinitely. If you would rather spend an hour twice a year, CERAMIC WAX COAT GEL UV returns far more durability for that effort. ALL IN ONE AIO V.2 sits slightly apart, correcting lightly and protecting in the same pass, which suits paint that needs a little more than a wipe.

What is a quick detailer?

A light spray-and-wipe product used on paint that is already clean. It lifts dust, fingerprints and water marks while leaving slickness, depth and a hydrophobic layer behind, all in a few minutes with one microfibre. Think of it as what you do after drying the car, not a way of cleaning a dirty one, because used on grit it simply drags that grit across the paint. SON2 HYDROPHOBIC EVERYDAY CLEANER+ covers the same ground day to day, while BOOST PROTECT DETAILER is aimed at exterior trim and plastics rather than paint.

Why wax your car?

Because a protected panel stays cleaner and washes more safely than a bare one. Wax and sealant layers are sacrificial: road film, rain and UV attack them instead of the lacquer, and dirt has much less to grip. The practical benefit shows up at the next wash, when the same car takes half the contact to get clean. Less contact means fewer swirls, which means less polishing later.

Step by step

  1. Wash and dryEverything here goes onto clean paint, so this is not a shortcut around washing.
  2. Work coolStay out of direct sun and off hot panels, or the spray flashes before you can level it.
  3. Two towelsSpread with one clean microfibre, buff with a second, and swap them often.
  4. Top up, not stripRe-apply after each wash rather than waiting until the beading has gone entirely.
What wax cannot fix

A detailer or wax adds gloss and protection to the paint you have; it does not repair it. If swirls show in low sun and the finish looks flat under a torch, that is a correction job in Paint Polishing, and no amount of spray wax will stand in for it.

Car wax questions

What UK owners ask us most about waxing, spray wax and detailers.

How do you wax a car?

Wash and dry it first, then work one panel at a time on cool paint, out of the sun. Apply a thin, even layer, give it a moment, then buff with a clean microfibre. Thin coats always beat thick ones, which waste product and make buffing hard work. With a spray wax the whole car is a fifteen-minute job rather than an afternoon.

How long does a spray car wax last?

Weeks rather than months, and honestly it depends on where the car lives. A garaged car that is washed carefully holds a quick detailer far longer than one parked outside through a British winter. That is less of a problem than it sounds, because re-applying takes minutes: you top it up after each wash instead of watching a calendar. For months of durability, CERAMIC WAX COAT GEL UV is the step up.

Which car wax is best for black cars?

Black paint rewards depth, so a product that adds slickness and darkens the finish makes a visible difference, and CERAMIC WAX COAT GEL UV gives the wettest look on this shelf. Be aware that no wax hides swirls; it will make them glossier. If dark paint looks hazy in sunlight, correct it first and then protect it.

Can I use a quick detailer on a ceramic coated car?

Yes, and it is one of the better habits to get into. A hydrophobic detailer tops the beading back up as a coating ages, and nothing on this shelf will harm the coating underneath. Keep washing with a pH-neutral shampoo and avoid aggressive traffic film removers, which are what strip performance from coated paint.

What is the difference between a wax and a ceramic coating?

Durability, and how they attach to the paint. Wax and spray sealants sit on the surface as a sacrificial layer and wear away over weeks or months, which is why re-application is part of the routine. A ceramic coating bonds to bare clear coat and stays for years, but it demands full preparation first: polishing, then degreasing. This shelf maintains a finish; a coating locks one in.
