The best one is the scent you still enjoy a month in, in a format you can control. Strong fruity notes make a great first impression but tire faster in a small cabin, while leather and perfume-style fragrances stay quieter and sit better as a background. Format matters as much as the fragrance: a hanging tag holds a steady low level, a spray gives you a burst exactly when you want it, which is why every scent here comes as both. Buy for the drives you actually do, not for a one-second sniff.
That depends far more on the car than on the bottle. Heat, direct sun and constantly opening doors burn fragrance off quickly, so the same tag can feel finished in a fortnight in July and still be going in November. As with any fragrance, do not spray towards your face or into a closed car you are about to sit in, keep bottles away from children, and air the car out if a scent ever feels overpowering. If you are sensitive to fragrance, dose lightly, start with the softer LADY line and lean on the hanging tag rather than the spray. Anyone with asthma or a fragrance allergy should be cautious with air fresheners generally, ours included.
A fragrance masks a smell, it does not remove one. Damp carpet, smoke, spilt milk or a tired cabin filter need cleaning and drying at source — deal with that first, then add the scent.

Hang the tag from the rear-view mirror or clip it somewhere out of direct sun, and keep the spray for when you want an instant lift. Two short mists into the cabin, or one onto the tag, is enough to start — you can always add more, but you cannot take it back out. Do not spray directly onto screens, instrument clusters, leather or polished trim. Let the car air for a minute before you set off.
Find the source, because fragrance only buys you a few days. Most car smells come from damp carpet, drinks spilt into seat foam, food under the seats, cigarette residue on the plastics, or a cabin filter that is well past it. Clean and dry the interior properly first — textiles with a proper upholstery cleaner, plastics with an APC — and only then add a scent. A genuinely clean cabin also holds fragrance far longer.
Pick by how long you sit in the car. Sweet and fruity — RED CHERRY BOMB, JUICY GREEN APPLE, BUBBLE GUM KISS — are bright and fun for short trips and daily runs.
